J&K Forest department guard and fellow broker arrested for taking bribe in Ganderbal

ACB officials said that they had received the complaint. It alleged that Tariq Ahmed, a security guard posted in Vaskhura, had demanded a bribe of five thousand rupees to release the wood confiscated by the forest department.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at Vaskhura in Ganderbal district on Friday arrested a security guard and a broker of the Forest Department for accepting a bribe of five thousand. The guard was taking bribe through a broker to release the confiscated wood by the department.

The personnel has been identified as Tariq Ahmed Sofi and Dalal Mohammad Yasin Bhatt, residents of Jaunakoot, Srinagar. An ACB official said that they had received the complaint. In which the complainant alleged that Tariq Ahmed, a security guard posted in Vaskhura, has demanded a bribe of five thousand rupees to release the wood confiscated by the forest department.

A case was registered in this regard at the Srinagar Police Station. After receiving the complaint, the ACB formed a team for investigation and by laying a trap, the accused guard and his fellow broker were arrested red-handed taking bribes. The bribe amount was also recovered from them.
